Global Crude Steel Production Data

The World Steel Association (WSA) released the global crude steel production data for February 2023. In February, the crude steel output of the 63 countries and regions included in the statistics of the World Steel Association was 142.4 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.0%.

In terms of regions, in February 2023, Africa’s crude steel output was 1.1 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11.9%; Asia and Oceania’s crude steel output was 106.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.0%; the EU (27 countries) crude steel output was 10.5 million The output of crude steel in other European countries was 2.7 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 24.9%; the output of crude steel in the Middle East was 3.5 million tons, an increase of 11.5% year-on-year; the output of crude steel in North America was 8.3 million tons, a decrease of 5.5% year-on-year %; Russia and other CIS countries + Ukraine crude steel production was 6.4 million tons, down 21.3% year-on-year; South American crude steel production was 3.2 million tons, down 3.1% year-on-year.
From the perspective of the world’s top ten steel-producing countries (regions), in February 2023, the estimated crude steel output in mainland China is 80.06 million tons, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year; India’s crude steel output is 10 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.0%; Japan Crude steel production was 6.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%; U.S. crude steel production was 6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%; Russia’s crude steel production was estimated at 5.6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.6%; South Korea’s crude steel production was 5.2 million tons tons, an increase of 1.1% year-on-year; Germany’s crude steel output was 3 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.9%; Brazil’s crude steel output was 2.5 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.7%; Iran’s crude steel output was estimated to be 2.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.6% ; Turkey’s crude steel production was 2.1 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 28.9%.

From the perspective of the world’s top ten steel-producing countries (regions), in January 2023, the estimated crude steel output in mainland China was 79.45 million tons, an increase of 2.3% year-on-year; India’s crude steel output was 10.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2%; Japan Crude steel production was 7.2 million tons, down 6.9% year-on-year; U.S. crude steel production was 6.5 million tons, down 6.8% year-on-year; Russia’s crude steel output was estimated at 5.8 million tons, down 8.9% year-on-year; South Korea’s crude steel output was estimated at 5.5 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.8%; Germany’s crude steel output was 2.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 10.2%; Brazil’s crude steel output was 2.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.9%; Iran’s crude steel production was estimated to be 2.7 million tons, a year-on-year increase 27.7%; Turkey’s crude steel production was 2.6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 17.6%.
Note: The above-mentioned regions include data submitted by 63 steel-producing countries (regions), whose output in 2022 will account for about 97% of the global crude steel output. Compared with 2022, the range of countries (regions) included in the statistics has changed: 3 countries have been deleted, namely Moldova, Uzbekistan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina; 2 countries have been added, namely Mongolia and Tunisia.20200708112648579
